CargoSmart Rings in the New Decade on the Inbound Logistics Top 100 List
May 12, 2020
We are pleased to share that Inbound Logistics has named CargoSmart to its 2020 Top 100 Logistics IT Providers list. In its accompanying logistics IT market research report, the publication notes that efficient supply chain operations are crucial during the COVID-19 pandemic as hospitals, governments, and suppliers deliver critical products as quickly as possible.
“Recent events remind businesses to focus like a laser beam on improving enterprise operations through technology investments. The challenges are many and are now top of mind. Improving end-to-end visibility, achieving closer integration with value chain partners, finding efficient sources of transport lift, nailing down chain of custody and sustainability concerns to limit liability, and inventory scalability have clearly become survival issues for many,” said Felecia Stratton, Editor, Inbound Logistics. “Inbound Logistics is proud to honor CargoSmart because its solutions address these critical needs and help companies move along the continuum to truly becoming demand-driven enterprises.”
Optimizing US Import Performance
According to the US Census Bureau statistics, the past year witnessed a dramatic shift in exports from China to other Asian countries as a result of shippers attempting to manage risk and costs during the trade war. Additionally, the novel coronavirus outbreak that started in Wuhan, China, triggered a further drop in exports from China and the need for shippers to temporarily source from alternate locations.
Comparing the second half of 2019 to the second half 2018, CargoSmart found a 26% increase in vessel arrivals at key Asia transshipment hubs, despite overall exports from Asia to the US decreasing. This demonstrates that as shippers shift their sourcing regions from China to other regions in Asia, it is increasing the complexity to monitor cargo that requires transshipments routes.
CargoSmart’s planning and visibility solutions, including Big Schedules Analytics and ForeSea, help US importers to measure performance of new suppliers and routes, and to manage incoming cargo as they respond and adjust their shipping patterns as they navigate these challenging times.
